11/24/2006 FREDDIE - 15 YEARS GONEIt is 15 years ago today that Freddie Mercury tragically died on November 24th, 1991 at the age of 45, of AIDS related bronchial pneumonia.

Certo, magari solo un pò diversamente. Io cerco solo di essere genuino e penso che questo traspare dalle mie canzoni. Non voglio cambiare il mondo, lascio che le canzoni che scrivo esprimano le mie sensazioni e i miei sentimenti. Per me, la felicità è la cosa più importante e se sono felice il mio lavoro lo dimostra. Alla fine tutti gli errori e tutte le scuse sono da imputare solo a me. Mi è sembrato corretto non fornire prima questa mia informazione personale allo scopo proteggere la privacy di coloro che mi sono vicini.
Comunque è giunto il momento che amici e fan di tutto il mondo sappiano la verità: a seguito delle enormi congetture apparse sulla stampa, vorrei confermare che ho sostenuto il test HIV e sono risultato positivo. Ho l' AIDS. Spero solo che ognuno si unirà a me, ai miei dottori e a tutti quelli che lottano contro questa terribile malattia. Mi piace pensare di essere stato solo me stesso e ora voglio soltanto avere la maggior quantità possibile di gioia e serenità, e immagazinare quanta più vita riesco, per tutto il poco tempo che mi resta da vivere".
(Il giorno seguente, domenica 24 novembre 1991 alle ore 19, Freddie Mercury muore, stroncato da una polmonite, nella sua villa di Kensington, trasformata in una clinica per l'assistenza a Freddie.) In My Defence
